FAQs
What is Reilly’s schedule?
Tuesdays - Saturdays 12pm - 7pm
Do tattoos hurt?
Yes, but it is bearable. I like to describe getting a tattoo as a cat-scratch on a sunburn. Be sure to eat a good meal before your appointment and avoid alcohol or any other blood thinners.
How much will my tattoo cost?
I charge $250 per hour. The cost of your tattoo is directly related to the amount of time it will take to complete the design. This ensures the most fair way to make sure you’re not being overcharged and I am not undercharging.
Is it customary to tip the artist?
Yes. Some people treat it like a restaurant, but generally, anything is appreciated. Don’t break the bank.
Can I see the line-drawing for my tattoo before my appointment?
I typically do not show the design prior to the appointment day as I am working with many clients. But I assure you it will be ready by your appointment with everything in mind that we discussed (your wants and don’t wants). If you wanted to make any changes with what was discussed please call the shop at 617-876-0412. It may require a re-consult to get back on the same page. Some small adjustments are doable day of, while some may require us to reschedule the appointment to accommodate larger changes.
What should I have prepared for Reilly to consider my project?
In general, please be prepared to send any reference images that you feel inspired by or would like incorporated into your piece. We will then discuss what we can make work within your vision. After we get onto the same page, we can set an appointment date and take a deposit. Deposits are generally between $100-$250 depending on the individual session(s).
If I want to make changes to my tattoo before my appointment, how should I contact Reilly?
If you’d like to make any changes that have been discussed, please call the shop at 617-876-0412, while small changes can be an easy adjustment, we may need to re-consult to ensure the design is planned out properly.
Is it okay to get a tattoo if I am sick?
I know you want your tattoo. But please, allow yourself to get better and get over your cold so we don’t risk myself or other artists getting sick. Call the shop, 617-876-0412, and the front desk can help you reschedule.
Is it okay to get a tattoo if I am pregnant?
Unfortunately no. It is better to err on the side of caution and wait until after breastfeeding (if you are breastfeeding) in case of any infection with your tattoo.
What should I get and where?
It all begins with an idea! I am happy to give suggestions for placement of tattoos and/or design the tattoos to fit and compliment the body where you want your tattoo.
.
I submitted a Consultation Form and have not heard back from Reilly. What’s going on?
Thank you for submitting! I usually check the forms twice a week. Please be patient. I look forward to working with you!
Dream big.
My job is to take your idea for a tattoo and exceed your expectations with a unique, one of a kind piece of art. I will use my 14 + years of experience to create a tattoo that best fits your body and shape based upon what we have discussed. As an artist I want to make the best possible art that I can within your vision.
Aftercare
Your tattoo was carefully created by a professional. To ensure a top-quality tattoo, the rest is up to you. Please follow these simple aftercare instructions during the healing process of your tattoo to ensure maximum results and to avoid infection, loss of color/detail, etc.
Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo!
Remove the bandage within 1 - 2 hours after getting your tattoo. Do not re-bandage.
Wash tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap. Be gentle, do not use a washcloth or anything that will exfoliate your tattoo. Only use your hands.
Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub or use a fabric with a rough surface.
Use unscented lotion while your tattoo is healing. Always use clean hands and do not place your fingers back into the lotion after touching your tattoo. Rub a small amount on your tattoo so that it is not shiny or greasy – you want the thinnest amount possible. Pat off any excess lotion with a clean paper towel.
Apply lotion 3-5 times daily for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Wear clean, loose clothing to protect tattoo while healing (at least 2 weeks). Do not wear abrasive materials, jewelry, or shoes that rub against your tattoo.
On the 3rd or 4th day, your tattoo will begin to peel. This is normal! Do not pick, scratch or peel any scabbing or flaky skin; allow it to come off on its own. Keep the tattoo clean and continue to use unscented lotion to help alleviate itch and promote healing.
You can shower, but you may not soak your tattoo for 2 weeks. No swimming/soaking in pools, beaches, or hot tubs.
Do not expose your healing tattoo to the sun for at least 3 weeks. Once your tattoo is healed, use high SPF sunblock when exposed to the sun.
Do not expose your tattoo to anything that may hinder healing, including but not limited to: shaving, unclean gym equipment, unclean hands, etc.
Derm Shield / Saniderm / Tegaderm
- The bandage is flexible, waterproof, and breathable and should be left on for specified time.
Whether 1 day, cleaned, dried off and applied again or leaving on for 3-5 days.
When removing the bandage, it is best to do so with running warm water and an unscented soap.
Gently peel the bandage by gently pulling it slowly from a edge away from the tattoo, avoid pulling
outward away from your body, allowing the small amount of tension to let the bandage separate from your skin.
Clean off your tattoo and be sure to get the adhesive residue as well.
Return to the unscented lotion/soap routine for the remainder of the 2 weeks after tattoo session.
If at any point your bandage peels back exposing any of your new tattoo, you will want to remove it as it is now creating a pocket for dirt and bacteria.
